I got home from work yesterday and noticed it looked like it might rain. Knowing this certain spot gets really hot when it rains I decided to go get myself some bait from the bait store. I made it down to the river as there was no rain, as soon as it started to rain I had one on. I lost it. Two minutes later same thing, BIG cat, lost it. Another minute goes by BIG cat, broke my line after getting snagged up by shore. By this point I was very frustrated, I was hooking into fish, felt right, and BAM! they are gone. I decided to get away from the snag and move a bit up river and see if that help. Within 10 minutes of being in my new spot, BAM another, LOST IT! Thirty minutes went by and my rod gave a 30 degree bend, the fight was on. I reeled this fish is for a good 5 minutes, for me this was a long time, I usually don't like to mess around a whole lot and try to get em in asap. This fish was ripping drag on my reel. As I get it close to shore I realize I need to reposition myself to land this fish, at the 4 minute mark or so, I realized this was probably the biggest Cat I have ever had on in my life. My move ended up hurting me and losing me my fish, as I moved I gave the line slack and it got snagged up again. I ended up breaking my 30lb mono leader. From the size of that tail, I would safely say it was close to 30 lbs, maybe have been my 40" I was looking for! I ended the night with one small cat and 8 shake offs or breaks. Quite a disappointing yet fun night.

It happens. That is why we should enjoy them when we land em.
