My dad has an H2Oc by Lowrance. It's a handheld which is awesome. I think you can find them pretty much anywhere right now for around $150-175. Then buy the Lakemaps chip for like $25. They even have a mounting kit for them. Pretty sweet!

I now have the Navionics for all of the U.S and southern Canada. It is quite amazing, tracking and pin point spots are fully functional. Although river depth is not an option, and would be silly cause it changes so much, it allows me to mark all of my spots and overlay the map with bing satellite, which is extraordinarily detailed.
